MAKKUM – The seven companies of the Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw Group together build exclusive, sea-going motor yachts of the highest quality under the Feadship brand. Each company has its own role in the construction process, invests in craftsmanship and works with the most modern techniques. All employees share a passion for their work, believe in each other’s abilities and work to the utmost to be the best in their field. Above all, they enjoy working on the dream yachts. Feadship is the largest and most important designer and builder of luxury motor yachts in the world.
The origin of Koninklijke de Vries Scheepsbouw lies in Aalsmeer, where Han de Vries started a shipyard in 1906. At that time, the yard was easy to reach for the flower growers. Han de Vries built many wooden barges. After a short time, other customers came to the yard and he built aluminum sailing and motor yachts. Koninklijke De Vries Shipbuilding in Aalsmeer is now the hub of a group of proud, successful companies that together build exclusive superyachts of the highest quality.
Feadship, First Export Association of Dutch SHIPbuilders, is a partnership established in 1949 between two renowned yacht builders: Royal van Lent Shipyard and Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw and naval architecture firm De Voogt and Naval Architects. Feadship is the market leader in custom built superyachts.
De Vries Scheepsbouw Makkum opened its doors in August 2005. Due to its favorable location on the IJsselmeer, the yard offers the infrastructure for the construction and transport of large yachts. With the experience and passion of the de Vries family, De Vries Scheepsbouw Makkum also supplies exclusive dream yachts under the Feadship brand for a select international clientele. Custom built to perfection. In addition, the craftsmen in Makkum carry out refits of Feadship yachts.
